Ben is the practice group leader of the litigation and dispute resolution team and has over 20 years legal experience. Before joining Plastiras Lawyers, Ben was head of litigation and risk management at a boutique property and commercial services firm and prior to that, he was a partner in the commercial disputes team at the national firm of DLA Phillips Fox – Brisbane (now DLA Piper).

Ben predominantly advises corporations and SMEs on all areas of commercial litigation, risk management, alternative dispute resolution, Corporations Act compliance, trade practices compliance, consumer protection and insolvency.

He has extensive negotiation, mediation and alternative dispute resolution training and experience. Based on this specialist experience, he has also acted in corporate advisory roles for clients and has developed a strong interest in risk management and corporate governance within an increasingly complex legal, compliance and regulatory environment.

Ben’s recent significant transactions include:
  • Acting for the successful plaintiffs in large contested Queensland Supreme Court property disputes.
  • Managing legal teams in significant Supreme, Federal and Appellate Court matters involving trade practices litigation, commercial arbitrations and large shareholder disputes, construction, contractual, commercial property and leasing disputes, misuse of intellectual property and confidential information, corporate insolvency and administration matters.
  • Representing numerous parties in multi-million dollar joint venture and shareholder disputes.
  • Acting for the successful applicant in large contested winding up proceedings in the Supreme Court of Queensland and Federal Court.
