WA: More funding for police from criminals' confiscated money
The Western Australian Government will give police and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) a multi-million dollar fighting fund gleaned from money obtained from criminals to combat outlaw bikie gangs and other organised crime.
Attorney General Christian Porter and Police Minister Rob Johnson announced they have signed a two-year agreement which gives more funding to police and the DPP from criminal property confiscation grants.
Mr Porter said police will receive a guaranteed $3.45 million from the grants fund over the next three years to target bikie gangs and suspicious people with unexplained wealth.
